Basic Shotgun Class #2055
The techniques and methodology presented in this course will focus on basic skills in the use, and operation of the Shotgun. Upon completion of the Pct. #4 Shotgun qualification the student will be able to carry a Shotgun on duty. These skills will be developed through hands on familiarization, dry practice and performance of live fire drills. Student Requirements: 1. Department approved 12 Gauge Shotgun per Policy and Ethics Manual #15 Firearms. 3. Sling. 4. Cleaning kit. 5. Eye protection. 6. Ear protection. 9. Drinking Water. 10. Hat and Sunscreen (recommended). 11. Note taking material. 12. Minimum 40 rounds of 12 gauge slugs, and 60 rounds of 12 gauge OO buck shot. 13. Duty rig including handgun, and 3-Magazines. 14. For officers who were licensed before April 1, 2018, this is 40 hour new required course to be completed no later than the second anniversary of the date the officer is licensed or the date an officer applies for an intermediate proficiency certificate, whichever date is earlier. This course must be completed every 4 years until obtaining your Master Peace Officer certification. Student will be exposed to the following; difference between the interview and the interrogation, historical development of interrogations, legal requirements. Advanced Patrol Rifle Course #2055
PRE-REQUISIT: STUDENTS MUST HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ATTENDED AND PASSED THE PCT. 4 BASIC PATROL RIFLE COURSE PRIOR TO ATTENDING THIS COURSE. This course of instruction focuses on tactical speed shooting concepts, aggressive gun-handling skills and dynamic action with the AR-15 style Service Rifle. The concepts of dominating the weapon, the threat, and all visual areas during dynamic action will be emphasized throughout the course. Students will develop reflexive gun-handling skills that will enable them to quickly and efficiently engage threats while performing complex tasks. This is an advanced course and students are expected to be proficient in marksmanship, weapon nomenclature, weapon malfunctions, weapon manipulation, and arrive with sighted in weapons. Required equipment for the class is listed below. • RIFLE: A semi-automatic .223 Remington/5.56 NATO AR15/CAR15 type rifle with A1/A2 type sights manufactured by a recognized manufacturer or licensed Gunsmith (NO HOME MADE PARTS GUNS), at least three Magazines with a 30 round capacity, and rifle sling. (Pistol grade carbines will not pass this course). • The students appropriate patrol duty belt, hand gun carried on duty with a minimum of three magazines for transition evolutions of fire, 50 rounds of ammo in 9mm, 40, and 45 will be provided all other calibers must be provided by the student. • 500 rounds .556/.223 ammunition that the rifle is safely designed to use and manufactured under S.A.M.I. manufacturing standards must be provided by the student. (No steel penetrator, tracer rounds, or reloaded ammunition allowed). • Department issued Level IV plate carrier and plates. (If you have not yet been issued Level IV plates and carrier and you own your own, you are encouraged to wear it). • Eye and ear protection • OPTIONAL: Combat optics / heads up display type aiming device (TASCO ProPoint, AIMPOINT or Bushnell/Eotech EDS) are permissible. A scope with no more than a 6x power magnification is allowed. NOTES: This is a physically demanding course and students should wear appropriate range clothing and footwear. Students are encouraged to bring plenty of water and their own lunch. Students will not be allowed to leave the range for lunch due to time constraints. Students must be pre-approved by their chain of command to attend prior to registration. Effective April 1, 2018, the new law requires new officers and any officer with only a basic proficiency certificate to complete 8-hours of TCOLE approved de-escalation training every 48-months. This course is designed for terminal operators who perform all NCIC/TCIC functions, including inquiry, entry, modification, clearing, canceling, and III functions. Operators must receive this training within the first 6 months of assignment or employment, regardless of whether these duties are performed on a full-time or part-time basis. In order to comply with federal requirements, operators must retest within two years of certification or most recent re-certification date.
